About the Position

Output/Core Tasks of the job:

  • Engage with Business Analysts and Functional resources in assessing the Business requirement, impact and data lineage requirements that include the data quality process
  • Interpret a functional specification and translate requirements in preparation for a DS job build
  • Determine data validation and assess if dashboards are required
  • Understand the Central Management Console and manage Administration & Authorisations
  • Provide multi-user support (check-in/check-out) and version control
  • Design, build and deliver Data Service Solutions:
  • Complex transformation logic
  • Exception handling & troubleshooting processes
  • Scheduling and monitoring/dashboards for batch & real-time jobs
  • Understand SAP Data Services' broad source and target applications
  • Understand the interoperability and flexibility with web services-based applications
  • Advise the business on high performance parallel transformations and grid computing as well as hardware, resource and network requirements
  • Guide business on optimising data processes while considering system scalability and limitations
  • Conform to- and develop best practices and principles of use
  • Facilitate end-user and administrator training and workshops
  • Rapidly assess a given situation, its data impacts and requirements and express the requirement concisely
  • DS Implementation or SAP Product support experience


  • Qualifications:
  • University Degree (B.Eng, B.Sc or B.Com)
  • SAP qualification will be highly beneficial
  • Experience:
  • Minimum 3 - 4 years' business experience
  • Working data experience
  • SAP DS knowledge & practical experience
  • Knowledge:
  • Strong understanding of Relational Database modelling & SQL or database logic
  • Understanding of scripting languages, i.e. Python or similar
  • Be capable of debugging and profiling data while understanding complex data impacts across the organisation
  • Be proficient in Data Integration, Data Quality and Data Governance concepts
  • Understand SAP Data Services' broad source and target applications
  • Understand the interoperability and flexibility with web services-based applications
  • DS Implementation or SAP Product support experience
  • Have a good understanding of the ETL Solution, DS System Architecture & Landscape
  • Have the core skills of a Data Services (DS) Developer.
